There are few commitments in life that you can’t renegotiate.
Experimenting is an opportunity to try something on.
It’s not a lifetime commitment.
It’s a way to sample and to see what the results can be, for good or bad.
Experiments can provide clues to what is right or correct for you as an individual. They can show you what works and what does not and leave room for shifting and growth until you find the exact fit.
You can experiment with behavior, with habits, with how you go about taking action, make decisions, and how you live your life. There is no one way for any group of people. How we operate is individual, even though as humans that is how we like to view the world; one size fits all.
We love to categorize and simplify but we are complex and unique. There are many variations.
Experimenting allows you to try on different options. It gives freedom for exploration and discovery. You may discover something works, or it doesn’t, but you may also find that there is a space to refine what and how you do things. It helps you to optimize.
One way to experiment is to model. To find someone who is an example of the results you get. You can explore how they achieved those results and experiment with recreating them in your own life and in the process, you may find a better way for you. You also may find you are forcing yoruself into a mold that doesn't quite fit.
Other times, you may find a completely different way works best and you have to turn your back on all the already discovered avenues. Sometimes to find that it still requires attempting those well established pathways. Attempting one way and finding it isn’t correct for you doesn’t make it wrong.
In experimenting it is important to know when it is right to give up. When you begin a process it’s always important to identify when you are giving up because it isn’t right versus when you feel resistance or struggle.
Knowing all this is a part of knowing yourself; all your good and all your shadow. You have to come to understand your own behaviors on an intimate level. When you get these parts of yourself in a knowing way, you may find you can laugh at your own difficult behavior. There I am again.
The way you get there is experimenting.
