Life is a series of transitions.
Some have clear endings and bright new beginnings. In between there is the void. Some are not so clear and the transition is murky and it seems as though it is all void.
The void can be confusing, daunting and many emotions can be present both positive and seemingly negative. We can feel joy, peace, and even revelation. There can also be sadness, confusion, and fear.
It can be important to be with what is in the void for a time, but eventually there is a need to move forward, even in small ways. Every small step forward can reveal what comes next.
When more seemingly negative emotions are there, it can be a struggle to know where or how to begin again. It can be confusing and sometimes overwhelming. It can be tempting to stay in the place of not knowing.
Often when seeing light out of the void there can be a desire to create some kind of order. Develop a plan, clean the environment to set the stage, or face the thing that is in the way of getting what you want most.
There comes a time when doing is right but sometimes there are so many potentials that knowing what to do can be challenging. Doing something invites momentum. It invites opportunity.
Start small. Create a space. Cleanse yourself and/or your environment. Declutter to make way for the new. Start a list but take some small action.
Action has a way of clearing a pathway even when the two seem disconnected.
When there is clarity, the way forward becomes more evident.
When I am feeling overwhelmed, I often start within my home. My go to is laundry because it has a certain order to it that seems to make sense to me. It involves a series of actions that lead to results and that feels comforting to me.
When my home is in order, things seem more clear.
Sometimes it means doing dishes, or putting a few things away, makes the rest seem less daunting and with each step forward, more order is created, more clearing is happening. Clearing on a physical level changes the energy. It invites ideas and inspiration. It makes spaces for something new.
Beginning again can elicit emotional expression and it’s good to experience whatever comes up. They can be important clues as to where to move next, but often the next step arrives either in an external clarity, or in a small internal whisper as if life is whispering, "Keep going."
So, notice, listen, and keep going one step at a time taking them as small or as big as you can manage.
